Happy Birthday to AnnaMarie and Rebecca

 Dear Friends,

Yesterday AnnaMarie turned nineteen years old, whilst little sister Rebecca turned six.

It's always fun having a birthday twin, they tell me!

To celebrate, we had a picnic and boat ride at a local nature area. It was perfect weather for an outing.

Little Hyrum tried catching a fish without a hook, but Evangeline was the one who was successful at catching a couple of minnows by hand~

Later on, we went to Grandpa's for dinner and cake, and then we had another gingerbread cake at home today. I think that's enough cake for now!

Before long, AnnaMarie will fly from the nest, and little Rebecca might not always get to celebrate  with her birthday twin. May these times be cherished memories for them, always.

Love, Marqueta

Now We Are Six

When I was one
I had just begun.
When I was two
I was nearly new.
When I was three
I was hardly me.
When I was four
I was not much more.
When I was five
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six
Now and forever.

A Visit to Unity Village

Dear Friends,

Yesterday we took a little trip to visit the lovely rose and water garden at Unity Village. It was a warm 83 degrees, but there was a nice breeze that misted water from the fountains onto us, so it was very pleasant, indeed!

I can't remember where I first heard about Unity, but I have always been attracted to it. The village itself has beautiful architecture, and shows the vision of its founders for a peaceful haven for all who visit there.

Enjoy the photos!

Love,

Marqueta

"The Unity Prayer"

The Light of God surrounds me
The Love of God enfolds me
The Power of God protects me
The Wisdom of God guides and directs me
 Wherever I go, God is
And all is well
And so it is Amen.

Happy Sunday

Dear Friends,

Our little garden is blooming so prettily for us on this sunny Sabbath Day, we couldn't help sharing it with you.

Hyrum loves this giant allium so much, that he picked it for me right after this was taken. :)

Chive blossoms may be small, but they're as pretty as anything, and so nice in salads and eggs!

In a wild spot in our backyard, I discovered this Solomon's Seal about to bloom~

And our first bloom from a Sarah Bernhardt peony just opened for us today; so lovely!

I drew this picture of a purple milkweed the other day, and the girls made a video of one of my songs to it.

I hope you enjoy it!

Love,

Marqueta

Spring Greens to Eat

Dear Friends,

I had a few requests on YouTube to start making wild food videos again, so the girls helped me make a theme song/scene for them, and added music to make them more fun.

Harvesting the things that grow all around us, uncared for, yet thriving, is a true thrill and fills my soul with gratitude. I love my gardens with home-grown tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and peas, but it's wonderful to know that I don't have to work hard to enjoy an abundance of food with an abundance of vitamins and minerals!

Enjoy!

Birthday Wishes

Dear Friends,

Today is my 43rd birthday, and I get to spend it with my sweet family, just relaxing and enjoying each others' company. Nothing could be better!

The past week have found us busily cleaning the yard and house, discarding what we don't need, and organizing what we do. It's AMAZING how much clutter can happen in five and half years in the same house! We're boxing up what we think we won't need in the next few months, having faith that the Lord will point us in the right direction for our homestead in the country.

I have dreams of starting a U-Pick herb and flower farm,

(photos taken from the internet)

Complete with butterfly house filled with lots of native plants (which we'll also sell).

Of course we'll have to have some goats for milking, as well as for clearing brush around the property (maybe not this many!)~

There will be a big barn that we will convert into a place for teaching workshops and putting on down home musical productions and dancing~

.

And of course a big farm pond for cooling off after a hot day's work!

I know it's out there somewhere, waiting for us to find it. If you think about it, perhaps you wouldn't mind keeping our family in your prayers that we might find it soon?

Love,

Marqueta

p.s. On our farm, we're sure to find lots of chickens, too! We made this little video for other chicken lovers out there~
