The Blessing of a Beautiful Day

Dear Reader,

Thank you so much for stopping by our Merry Hearts Cottage-may you enjoy your stay! This week has been spring and winter, all in one; On Monday we spent some time outside, working on our nature journals:

Chickens count as nature, don't they?
AnnaMarie did a very find primrose study.

By Tuesday, it was a balmy 50 degrees! It was nice enough to tidy up some of the dead flower stalks we had left out for our little insect friends:

"O secateurs!"

The Mother's Magazine says to rub snow on your cheeks to make them rosy!

But, alas, winter returned on Wednesday, so we consoled ourselves with a little thrift-shopping:

A pretty cup for storing pens or paintbrushes.

A lovely vintage hat that called to us all the way from the back of the store!

Thursday was windy as could be (We were going to clean up all those flower stalks we trimmed on Tuesday, but the wind did the job for us! Hopefully our neighbors across the way don't think it was sabotage.):

With the rain comes . . . .

a rainbow at the end of the old Chevy!

And today we woke up to snow, which means a day of reading, creative play and an extra long bath for the little ones (And Mother, too, if she can sneak away!). May your day bring plenty of happiness, rain, snow, or shine!

Love,

Marqueta

Solitude

Happy the man, whose wish and care
A few paternal acres bound,
Content to breathe his native air
In his own ground.

Whose herds with milk, whose fields with bread,
Whose flocks supply him with attire;
Whose trees in summer yield him shade,
In winter, fire.

Blest, who can unconcernedly find
Hours, days, and years slide soft away
In health of body, peace of mind;
Quiet by day.

Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mixed, sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please
With meditation.

Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die,
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

  4. Marqueta, we both got to the thrift stores I see, and we both found something pretty for pens or brushes! How cool is that?

    I love your dress and boots. Definitely my kind of clothes! I love dresses -- even for gardening.

    I love the nature sketches!! Great job on the primroses.

  5. Marqueta~
    What a lovely post! Yes, the weather is so typically March, isn't it? Unpredictable, changing from one day to the next. But just a couple more weeks we should see it a little more stable *Spring*!
    Yeah! (But for us in the Pacific Northwest, that means rain. :~{
    That's ok, that is what makes us The Evergreen State!
    The rain also has cosmectic benefits. Our skin stays nice and moist ~ less wrinkles.
    Have a great day!
