Dear Friends,
"Old October"
And the frost is comin' on
Little heavier every day-
Leaves is changin' overhead
Back from green to gray and red
Brown and yeller, with their stems
And the balance of the trees
Gettin' balder every breeze-
Old October's purt' nigh gone.
I love Old October so,
I can't bear to see her go-
Seems to me like losin' some
'Pears like sort o' settin' by
Some old friend 'at sigh by sigh
Into everlasting night!
Hickernuts a feller hears
Drappin' on the leaves below-
I love Old October so!
~James Whitcomb Riley

Hi Marqueta and greetings from October in England. What perfect photos for a lovely verse. It reminded me very much of one I have that was written in 1790, I wonder when yours was written? Eli x
