Dear Friends,
Thanks to our friends at "Corgyncombe Courant", Diane and Sarah, for reminding us of Miss Potter's birthday, which was the 28th. Evangeline had begged us to have a tea party on that day, and we even watched "Miss Potter", without knowing that we were celebrating her special day!
The Hostess
We even had Peter Rabbit carrots!
As with many of you, we are enamored of both the stories and the life story of this incredible lady. She had such a great talent for bringing her animal subjects to life, as well as for painting and sketching nature in all its variety. Here is a sampling of her work.
Here is a little video that features some of Miss Potter's sketches, along with the song "A Perfect Day", which was used as the theme for the short movies which were made of her stories.
We're sure that Heaven hosted a lovely party, too!
Love,
Marqueta

Oh I love Beatrix Potter. I read the most wonderful biography of her last summer. Thanks for letting us know it was her birthday. I will have to mark it in a special way next year.
ReplyDeleteBeatrix Potter was indeed an amazing woman! I love "Miss Potter." My mother had a copy of her journals and they were really neat too. I would love to find them somewhere, but they are out-of-print.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet day for you and a sweet tea party! :)
I love that movie such an amazing woman. I have a tendency to research things that catch my eye and that movie really did it for me to learn of her life.

ReplyDeleteI love love love "Miss Potter"! I also didn't know it was her birthday. Thanks for the sweet pictures of your lovely family tea party.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect little idea. Maybe one day you will all make the trip to Miss Potter's cottage and discover the beauty of the place where she once lived and worked. Very little has changed. Meanwhile, continue to enjoy her books as they are an excellent portrayal of life as it once was here in the English Lake District, although sadly our rabbits no longer wear blue coats! Eli x
