Dear Friends,
As you can see, we're still enjoying sweet Rebecca's newborn-ness; it's hard to believe that she's two weeks old already!
We celebrated Audrey's eleventh birthday this weekend with a little family get-together (While taking turns holding the baby, of course)~
We are so blessed to have Audrey in our family. Her love for babies and small children, and her "ABC Learning Center" daycare is a great service to her mother!
We are having another day of sunshine, and it might even make it into the 70s! This has been a very cold, wet spring, and it seems odd to think that Midsummer's Day is coming up soon. It still feels like April to us! We hope that we'll have some warmer weather coming, even though we are of course grateful for all the rain that has kept things wonderfully green.
Before we leave you, we thought we'd give you (and ourselves) a little challenge this week. When things go wrong, or we feel discouraged or depressed, let's try singing all of the hymns and happy songs that we know, and see what difference it makes! It makes us sad to live in a culture where singing is no longer appreciated or welcomed, but perhaps we can change that just by always having a song on our lips, and not worrying about what others think.
Here's a nice hymn to get you started :) ~
Love,
Marqueta
Thank you Marqueta for this sweet reminder. As a child I would sing hymns to help me through difficult times! So, I need to do this more!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your sweet Audrey! My girls say happy birthday too and hello! I sent a letter your way!
Hugs,
Emily
Happy Birthday to dear Audrey!
ReplyDeleteI love that Horsey Gingerbread Cake! I love gingerbread! And Horses! I used to have Tennessee Walkers ~ they are a dream to ride!
When my girls were small, they would climb up into an old apple tree in the orchard and sing ~
"Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely And long for heav'n and home When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me."
I just love that hymn!
One just can't help but be comforted and encouraged when you sing that song!
Blessings!
Happy Birthday to a simply beautiful girl♥
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that challenge! I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I'm taking you up nonetheless... pity my poor chilluns;-)
I used to drive a school bus, it was very stressful! And after I dropped the kids off between routes (I had 2 elementary and middle) I would sing at the top of my lungs while driving down the highway any hymn that came to mind. And while I had kids on the bus I would sing them in my head or hum them since they couldn't hear me anyway. It helped alot.
ReplyDeleteI love singing uplifting songs and am slowly learning to play the piano and learning to play those songs.

Thank you! I didn't even realize that was a "horse" cake! Even better! Thanks for the song. I heartily agree! Here are some favourites of my own:

No hay nada mas importante que saber, sin ninguna duda, que nosotros somos adorados por El Dios del universo!
ReplyDeleteGracias por darnos esta tarea...en verdad, es una buena idea acordarse de las canciones que nos dan animo en tiempo de tristeza.
Felicidades a tu linda nina. Que rapido crecen los ninos! Y que felicidad saber que tus preciosas ninas estan creciendo sabiendo La Verdad de Nuestro Senor Jesus :)

Happy Belated Birthday to Audrey! Once again, I noticed it on my little wall birthday chart...a bit late. It looks like pretty Audrey had a wonderful day! I can't think of anything more I'd want than a new baby in the house. Thanks for the reminder to sing hymns. I love to sing and hum them while I work.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Lynn
PS - I love the picture of a group of you around the baby! It's beautiful.
