Once upon a time there was a little girl (cleverly disguised as a responsible adult) who loved baskets.
One day her long-lost twin, who lives far away, sent her a beautiful, African-made basket in the mail.
It was love at first sight!

Where it would be filled with alder branches for making medicine.

It was borrowed by other members of the family. . . ~

So the basket is getting a little rest from harvesting, but every time she sees it, the basket-loving girl is reminded of a special friend who knew how to give the perfect gift. :)
Love,
Marqueta

What wonderful stories you write!! I always read them with my little ones but we were so surprised when we saw your beautiful baby in the basket!! She is a blessing. I wish I could give her a little hug and cuddle. Enjoy your baby, Marqueta. God bless, Rose
ReplyDeleteOh, that is the sweetest baby! My oh my, the basket pales in comparison, but I do like your basket too! And I love the information you share. I do think we might get to harvest wild plants together some day. Wouldn't we have fun!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
Lynn
Dear Marqueta,
ReplyDeleteI too am that little girl who loves baskets.
I bought one the other day at an opp shop with some books too.
That basket is so beautiful. I love how it is plyable to put anything in it.
Your precius baby looks adorabel in it.
Many Blessings
Gae
What a wonderful story Marqueta. I love the basket, its so different to any I've seen here and it's gentle enough to hold your precious tiny bundle. Sorry I missed Audrey's birthday, I do hope the sun shone for her. Thank you for popping into my newly moved blog. What a good job you did as I found your name was missing from my favourites list. Blogger is very temperamental at times and getting all the information transfered from typepad to blogger has been a nightmare at times. I hope you are all having a sunny weekend. Ours is sunny but windy and cool. Love to you all Eli x
ReplyDeletePRECIOUS....
ReplyDeletethat basket is simply wonderful
and what a beautiful baby girl!!!
You are SO blessed.
Love~ Jen
