Think Spring!

(A Get-Well Gift from Mr. Graham)

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for all of your well wishes and prayers; they mean so much to us! We think that we may be getting over the worst of the "yuckies" here (thank goodness!), and the sun is shining today, which is a wonderful treat. Last week was a blur of hot tea and tissues (our hankie collection is not THAT big! :) ), but we still found time to . . .

Find a cute little 2-year Dachshund on Craigslist (His name is Bilbo Baggins)~

Ponder on the meaning of life~

Or was it, "Why DO teeth fall out?"~

We explored the creek behind our house and found signs of spring~

And discovered "ribbons" of ice in the freezing rain!

Darth Maul seems to be enjoying his new family. . .

Who is about to have a new addition!

We were thrilled to see hyacinths and daffodils coming up in the yard. . .

And geese grazing in the field behind the house~

And Audrey practiced her lunar photography (Amazing!)~

We hope that you found time to make some magic, too!

Till next time,

Love,

Marqueta

Things Work Out

Because it rains when we wish it wouldn’t,
Because men do what they often shouldn’t,
Because crops fail, and plans go wrong-
Some of us grumble all day long.
But somehow, in spite of the care and doubt,
It seems at last that things work out.
Because we lose where we hoped to gain,
Because we suffer a little pain,
Because we must work when we’d like to play-
Some of us whimper along life’s way.
But somehow, as day always follows the night,
Most of our troubles work out all right.
Because we cannot forever smile,
Because we must trudge in the dust awhile,
Because we think that the way is long-
Some of us whimper that life’s all wrong.
But somehow we live and our sky grows bright,
And everything seems to work out all right.
So bend to your trouble and meet your care,
For the clouds must break, and the sky grow fair.
Let the rain come down, as it must and will,
But keep on working and hoping still.
For in spite of the grumblers who stand about,
Somehow, it seems, all things work out.

  1. What lovely scenes Marqueta, we have just the same geese on the field near us. Not sure about that dark stranger amongst all those pretty dollies!! I bet they all love him. So pleased you are feeling a bit better now. Spring is very definitely just around the corner and you'll all be able to get out and about in your new neighbourhood. Take care. Eli x

  7. Hi--Glad to hear you are all doing better. We have ew additions at our house too--One of our 'muttskys', Dribby, had puppies Monday. I have no idea what they are, or how many, though--she had them under the old cabin, and I can't reach or see them. I can hear them when I am in the cabin kitchen, and it sounds like there may be about 3 or 4--I told her she could only have 2, but I don't think she listened!
Again, glad you're doing better--looking forward to my next letter!

  8. Little Bilbo is so cute, not sure what Craigs List is..... Love the gappy tooth picture. The Littlest Fairy is minus two at the moment, one each side towards the back and cannot be seen unless she smiles. Needless to say, she is remaining tight lipped at the moment until the gaps are filled in again. Glad to hear that you are all on the mend. Dev x

  9. Thanks for the poem! It really hit the spot. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God - to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his dear Son, that he might be the firstborn amongst many brethren..."
