We'll Have Tea With the Queen

Dear Friends,

The Small Dolls are in a flurry; they'd really better hurry! They're scrubbing and scouring, smiling not scowling, for the Queen Herself is coming to town!

We found a little doll, commemorating the coronation of HRH Elizabeth II, at our favorite thrift store. She'll fit right in with our Small Doll Family, who are excitedly making crumpets out of Sculpey and dusting off their best tea set before her arrival! Of course, since her highness is currently armless, someone else will have to do the pouring, poor thing.

Perhaps we'll have to fashion some prosthetic limbs out of Sculpey, as well!

Till next time,

Love,

Marqueta

  2. Oh my goodness gracious! What happened to the poor Queen? Yes, yes indeed, do make some arms for her Majesty! Perhaps she will Knight thee for your good deed! Then won't the Small Dolls have fun planning another party in your honour!

  7. That doll is a Peggy Nisbet portrait model. I collected a bunch of 'em when I was in school, back in the '70's and early 80's. She might be quite valuable, as the company closed in the middle 80's. The dolls were lifelike and all the costumes hand-sewn. The company was based in Yorkshire, I believe, with one factory. I have Henry VIII, his six wives, Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots.

  10. Now--remember my dears--you must have clotted cream with your scones! How fun--I'll have to keep an eye out for a Prince Charles small doll--then you can use the Queen to whack him for foolishness in his lifetime!

BTW--nothing is wrong with your broawser--I just posted a week's worth of entries on one day to catch up the dress experiment.

  12. This was such a delightful little read. I can see this as a children's book. I can even hear the giggling at "since her highness is currently armless, someone else will have to do the pouring, poor thing." love that.
